After the first year of parenthood, we had a
few gazillion empty baby formula cans kicking around. I saved them thinking, I can do SOMETHING with these!! (and limited myself to one bag worth). Well, it’s “Crafty-Christmas-Time” and time to break ’em out and get to it! A little bit of cheery decor, comin’ up! — Let’s reuse baby containers for a Christmas decor craft!
I started with my empty formula cans, labels removed. Then bonded them together with Sugru.
After spray painting everything as gold as a solid gold dancer, I decided to add some little feet, also using Sugru, so it can stand on end. Another easy option would be to add decorative ribbon around the top can, or simple hardware to the back for hanging.
Then, it was time for an ornament round-up! This is the time to pull out those old favourites, or take advantage of the early holiday sales!
Now, experimenting is the name of the game… keep working with them until you find the arrangement you like. And remember, a glue gun is your best friend!
Lucky me, I managed to match our Christmas palette from our tree. Peacock blues and whites, and of course, metallic. A clean and simple Holiday addition to our chunky wooden fire place mantle. And, the munchkin is pretty crazy about that bear.
And, as an option, there is enough room to place a few flameless candles in each can — for a little extra shine at night time.
Happy Holidays everybody, and happy crafting! Ho! Ho! Ho!
