Here is an easy Christmas Craft, that you can give as a gift, and knock it out in an afternoon while binging on Netflix. What could be better? It’s Fabric Ball Christmas Decorations! The best part? You can use whatever scraps of fabric, you have laying around. (This post may contain affiliate links. Fabric Ball Christmas Decoration,
SUPPLIES:
Foam Ball (I used a 6″ one),
Hot Glue Gun
Fabric (cut into squares)
Wire
Ribbon
Scissors
Pencil
Use your wire, to twist into a loop. Insert that loop into the top of your foam ball, with the wire ends pointing in opposite directions. This will securely attach the wire loop to the foam ball, and now you’re ready for the fun part.
Prepare your fabric by cutting into squares. I used approximately 4″ x 4″ square pieces, but any size will do — It just depends how fluffy you would like your ball to be. No need to be precise, any four-sided shape will do. Be quick and be easy on yourself. Next, gather a fabric piece around the tip of your pencil. Add a dab of hot glue, to the fabric (over the pencil) and pierce it into the foam ball.
Then, you guessed it… keep going! I chose to keep my squares tightly packed together, but you could do it a little looser, for a bit less work (just make sure you’re completely hiding the foam ball). It’s the perfect Netflix-binge activity, or, the perfect, Christmas-album-on-repeat activity.
This project can easily be changed up with different fabric choices, (what about a fun polka-dot?) for different occasions and events. Ouu! Maybe even white fabric balls, with contrasting ribbon at a wedding? Gorgeous.
Lastly, get that ribbon on there! Simply tie the two ends in a knot. Keeping the knot under the wire loop, and cut a pretty decorative detail onto the ends. I love the classic triangle cut. Simple and elegant.
This Fabric Ball Decoration, is so easy you guys! And, it makes the perfect gift for a loved one. It’s so easy to customize it to their decor and colour choices.

So much fun! What a great craft to do using left-over plaid scraps from other projects this year :) Looks great
Super simple and I can see how it could be changed up with different fabrics to suit any decor. Love it!
Totally love this, it’s exactly my speed of craft… no sewing, no measuring… simple, repetitive and awesome! Thanks for sharing :)
I totally agree! Ha ha… Thanks so much Andrea! :)
I love this kind of craft! I love working with fabric and crafts that are easy to do but create a fabulous end product. The fabric possibilities are endless! Thank you for the inspiration!
So nice, but did I miss the size of the squares for a 6″ ball? Thanks
Thanks Cheryl! My squares were approx. 4″ x 4″… but again, I was free-handing those cuts, and you could easily get away with a smaller square, it would just result in a “less fluffy” finished ball. Thanks again, and good point — I think I’ll add that into my description! :)
It’s lovely and so many options with different fabrics.
I absolutely love this idea… of course being of rustic mind and soul I see burlap and jute, thanks so much for sharing this awesome idea, I’ll have to get my Netflix queued up and make some!
Burlap would be gorgeous, Laurie! Thanks so much!! :)
