It’s the 15th of the month, and that means it’s time to have another Home Depot Gift Challenge! If you’ve never had the chance to visit during a HD Challenge, this is when a bunch of fantastic bloggers, get together, and shop at our favourite hardware shop for the same item… and transform it into something even better, for a loved one! (This is NOT a sponsored event, we just love Home Depot).
This month, we were working with hose clamps. Yep, a glamour item to be sure. It is amazing how many unique ideas these ladies can come up with! And this month our challenge is just a little more special with a $75 Home Depot Card GIVEAWAY! Be sure to stop at the bottom of this post, and get your entry — good luck! (This post may contain affiliate links. This means, should you end up making a purchase, advertisers give me a small percentage of that sale, at absolutely NO EXTRA COST to you. So — what journey did I take with this little hunk of metal, and my DIY Shade Tent? Let’s take a peek at my supplies:
- Hose Clamp
- Butterfly Shower Curtain (or fabric of your choice)
- Rope
- Stapler
- Wood Slice (I made my own from our firewood, but you can use anything circular)
- Screwdriver
The steps were super easy. I took the wood slice and gathered the shower curtain around the top, creating pleats, and leaving an opening for the front. I used the screwdriver to tighten the hose clamp around the wood slice, holding the curtain in place. Then, I added the rope to the top of the wood slice with the staple gun, for hanging.
I had some rebar in the garage, not being used for anything, so I made a small cut in the bottom hem of the shower curtain, and pushed the rebar through to anchor the bottom of my tent. But, you could use anything really — a couple of stones placed on the corner of your fabric, would work great.
The. Kid. Loved. It. I mean, what’s not to love? Add a cold beverage, and some “fishy crackers”, and we’ve got a full-blown picnic! I mean, it even has butterflies — get outta here!
It is also great for pondering life’s questions, while enjoying the sunshine…
I think she was comfortable, no? … Mom, who? The great thing about it, is a simple loosening of the clamp releases the fabric, so it can all be folded up and put away for next time.
Now for the fun part! Go check out everyone else’s creative projects by clicking the thumbnails, below… but not before you enter our $75 Home Depot Card GIVEAWAY! Good luck, everyone!
