Fa la la la la, la la la la! It’s my turn to tour around the ol’ Holiday block. I’m excited to be a part of the ‘Home for the Holidays’ Holiday Tour and Blog Hop, with 19 other bloggers. Make sure you check out their links at the bottom of my post, so you don’t miss any Christmasy goodness! #homefortheholidaysbloghop
This has been an interesting decorating season. That fireplace you see there was (is) under construction mere hours before posting this story. Yippee! We love a good ‘down-to-the-wire’ reno job. That’s how we roll, with a DIY spirit all year long. So far… we are LOVING finally having a mantel in our home, for Christmas.
That new mantel has already come in handy, like for my last Christmas DIY craft — my ‘Merry & Bright Marquee Sign‘! And, of course, having somewhere to hang our stockings! The Kiddo is pretty pumped about that one.
Ouuu! Ahhh! There is the tree… yep, she’s fake. Low maintenance, and I love it. I like to keep it simple with blue, clear glass, white, and metallic balls. I haven’t bothered with any garland for the last couple years. As long as she’s sparkling, we’re happy!
I seem to love oversized Holiday decor (you’ll see), and I totally love those giant (and cheap!) ornaments hung just outside our front door. So bright and fun! The Kiddo and I made the star garland, and the gingerbread house together this year. My little bean is getting pretty crafty!
And, speaking of being crafty. Our dining table NEVER looks like this, let’s be real. It’s always covered in crafts or puzzles and markers. This is why I LOVE hanging oversized Christmas ornaments from above, surrounding our drum shade — in lieu of any kind of holiday centrepiece. It’s festive, while keeping the table wipeable and craft-able.
Love that mini pink Christmas tree… we just found it this week, and it’s the perfect holiday cheer for my little pink lovin’ toddlers room. Do you see our gingerbread house tucked away on the buffet behind our dining table? It such a sweet glow in the evening. A projector light finishes off the outside of our home with a glow of green dots, this is SUPER handy if you have a “exterior-electrical-outlet-challenged” home like we do. One cord, with the little machine pointed at the house, and you’re done!
The bannister was super easy this year. We tackled that DIY’d oversized burlap wreath last year, and I strung up pre-lit greenery with some imitation Magnolia flowers.
We’re lucky enough to live in a beautiful spot, and that definitely contributes to my Christmas spirit when things are gorgeous and frosty outside — but the most simple decor this year came from my holiday cards from Target… they were so cute, that they ended up in a frame.
Welp, that’s about it. Hop around and check out all of the amazing holiday rooms from these incredible ladies. I’ve already been inspired to include a little Christmas decor in our bedrooms (for next year). Have YOU got a favourite holiday decoration or tradition?
