DIY Coral Painted Headboard

Summer seems to be rapidly coming to a close (single tear). But, I can still take advantage of those mild days. I came across this old headboard. I thought the spindle detail could look so pretty with the right colour.

I think my brothers had this exact bed when we were kids. I wanted to choose something bright to remove that 70s vibe, and an easy project: a gorgeous painted headboard.

I had a little coral paint left over from a previous project and I really wanted to break out the new spray gun. This is the one I use. It recommends not using latex paint — which is all I had, so I did some research and made sure to thin it waaaay down with water. After it was super runny — I was worried about the coverage and adhesion, but it worked out great!

I love this colour. Love the name too — “Japanese Kimono”, by Behr. Perfect name!

A few coats later and it was done. Loving the spray gun! And, here’s how she turned out…

Coral is my favourite colour for 2014 for sure. I’ve used it a few times — I used this exact shade on my DIY Chevron art piece for our bedroom.

So fun! Did you fall in love with a new colour this year? Got any stand-by favourites, that you always rely on?? What do you think?
